This past weekend we celebrated the wedding of Stephanie & Adam ~ a couple whos love for eachother and their family is very clear to see. Enjoy a few pictures ~ yes from the iphone until I get images from the real photog!!!

The Valdez Hall ~ Downtown Fresno, CA
Let the Swagging begin!!! Town & Country spent an entire day
just on the ceiling!
On day two, we started the Globe Lanterns ~
and yes, that took the entire day as well. Over
100 Lanterns hung over the dance floor!!
We LOVE Media Soulutions! Such a huge help
with our projects!!! And the BEST Lighting guys around!!
Tables in place, and getting set. Loved the use of round and
The chandalier hung perfectly over the 4 sided
square bar.
The Kissing Balls were a fun addition to add over
the Head Table.
Add lighting and you create an entirely different look.
Oh the dance floor. Instead of small black and white squares,
we opted for BIG ones! Gotta watch the pattern ~ especially
late at night!!! Each square an 8x8.

Now with the sheers up we have our cocktail
and Hors d'oeuvres area.
The pin drop lighting added the perfect touch to the
arrangments!

Sweet Dreams once again provided a perfect cake!
I know it looks blue, but it was lavender!! Really,
it's just my camera!
Nothing short of simplistic, comtemporary style! Working with black and white can be challenging as it can tend to be very harsh if a transitionary color palette is not introduced. Stephanie and Adam exuded classic and simple sophistication. Their taste for their wedding has to be transferred into a romantic and chic setting... not to mention that the setting was Valdez Hall at the Fresno Convention Center.

This is by far one of the most challenging venues to work with. it's old, it's cold.. it's just plain ugly! From the decrepit ceiling to the stained and cracked, actually chipped concrete floor... it takes an "A" team to transform this cave. After stepping into this wedding picture with less than three months to design and implement a magical dreamscape, we hunkered down and took serious action.
We started by reversing the color scape for the cocktail hour and the dinner party. The cocktail hour was created with black pipe and drape and all white linens. Blue up-lighting and pin spots dropped over the bars and appetizer stations to create a perfect Vegas style lounge effect. Guests were impressed by the instant ambiance. The ceiling to floor wall of sheers dividing the cocktail hour from the ballroom tempted teased and tantalized the guests as to what lay ahead.
The dining room was pipe and draped in all white with all of the guest tables "blacked out"... and by that I mean crushed black satin linens cloaked the alternating round and square tables that were surrounded by black covered chiavari chairs tied off with bold black ascots. Squares of color blocked lime greem flowers sat boldly on the table tops circled by hundreds of votive candles and loose cymbidium orchids blooms giving the guests an array of texture and beauty to gaze upon while enjoying their evening.
This may sound drab and dark, but it was just the opposite as the walls were lit up in shades of lavender. This cool and dramatic scene surrounded the custom designed and trucked in large gridded black and white dance floor that lay beneath a galaxy of chartreuse and white graduated paper lanterns specially ordered and hung by black satin ribbons to create a magical sky over the heavily used dance area.
The head table was cloaked in champagne and ivory linens to portray the epitome of romance against the modern ballroom setting. Fresh chartreuse floral covered pomanders (kissing balls) laced the organza ceiling over the bridal party as the enjoyed toasting their dear friends throughout the dinner hour.
This wedding demonstrates that contemporary can be romantic and black and white can prove to be the ultimate palette for elegance and festivity. Stephanie and Adam were more than a joy to work with, not to mention Steve and Kelly being the ultimate hosts for a fabulous celebration!

In case you're wondering where the other 400 people are ~ we created an entirely ceremony viewing area in the hall next door to the chapel. It was pipe and draped and complete with audio visual so no one missed a thing!
